If you’re pondering on how to screen record on a Chromebook, you can easily record them with the quick option. There are multiple ways to screen record and capture whatever displays on the PC screen.

     Screen Record On Chromebook

    Since the newer version, Chromebooks have rolled out built-in tools and third-party apps also to screen record. Earlier versions of Chromebook depend mostly on third-party apps. Screen record is a useful tool to record online sessions, reports, and presentations. Not only this, it is also useful for recording games, entertainment, YouTube videos, and other MP4.

    How to Screen Record on Chromebook

    You can get the Screen Record option on Chromebook in two ways. They are using the Keyboard shortcut and directly accessing the settings on the screen.

    1: Hit and hold the Control + Shift + Overview mode (or Show windows key) on the Chromebook. You can also click the Clock icon on the bottom right of the Chromebook and expand the Quick Settings.

    2: Select the Screen capture option in the Settings. Open the Status area if your Chromebook is in tablet mode to click the Screen Capture option.

    3: Click the Screen Recorder icon in the prompt at the bottom of your Chromebook screen and then hover to the Screen Record menu.

    4: By default, the Record partial screen is selected, and drag the Crosshair icon to expand it according to the required size.

    [Tips/Tricks: Remember, you cannot drag or move the selected area while recording the ongoing content. To record another selected area, terminate the ongoing recording and initiate again with your wishful area.]

    5: Choose the Record window option allows you to record the content of that particular Window in the split-screen mode.

    6: Select the Full-screen option to record the entire screen on the Chromebook

    The prompt tool shows the duration of the screen record. This feature only records whatever is displayed on the screen but not the audio of the content.

    How to Screen Record on Chromebook with Audio

    The screen record feature allows you to record the content visualized on your Chromebook screen, but it’s completely up to you to record it with or without the audio. Hence, You have to enable the audio function before screen recording.

    1: Select the gear/settings icon on the Screen Record Menu.

    2: Turn on the toggle to the right to enable the audio Record microphone while screen recording your Chromebook.

    3: If you don’t wish to record the content with audio, turn off the toggle of the “Record microphone” on the prompt tool.

    4: To enhance the sound quality, enable the noise-canceling microphone for better recording.

    How to Stop Screen Recording & Where to Find Them

    [1] When you’ve finished the screen recording as you desired, click on the red color button on the shelf to stop the recording.

    [2] A pop-up message appears on the screen that says Screen Recordings Taken, which means it is saved on your Chromebook.

    [3] Open the Downloads folder on the Chromebook and navigate to video files to select the file that you have recorded.

    [4] Tap on it to open, watch, share, save it on Google Drive, and also you can delete it later.

    Third-Party Alternative Screen Recording Apps

    There are some best third-party screen recordings apps that allow you to record with a few exclusive features. The apps come in both the free and paid category. Therefore, it’s up to you to try those apps according to your own preferences.

    1: Droplr – It is one of the best highly rated screen recording/shot tools available for chrome extension with easy storage capacity. The price varies for individual users and teams, costs at $6/user and $7/user per month respectively.

    2: Covideo – Covideo is another paid chrome extension screen recording tool. It is useful for sales and marketing people with many features. The Covideo costs $49/month.

    3: Screencastify – This is a popular tool that allows you many handy features such as adjusting resolution, highlighting the cursor. It is a free app only until the duration ends at 5 minutes. If the recordings are longer to record, you can pay a yearly fee of $49.
