    The Yen is a currency symbol mostly used in Japan and China. It is called Yen in Japan and Renminbi or Yuan in China. It is the world’s third most traded currency in the Foreign Exchange Market after the US dollar and the Euro. This symbol looks like the Captial letter Y dashed with two horizontal lines at the center. There are many ways to insert the Japanese Yen symbol using the keyboard.

    There are different ways to type the Yen symbol on Windows PC. They are listed below.

    1. Using Shortcut Keys

    To type the Yen symbol, enter the following combination of keys.

    Alt Key + 0165 (or) Alt key + 157

    [1] Click on the Search icon displayed on the taskbar.

    [2] Type Character Map and select it.

    [3] A small menu will pop up on the screen. Tick the box placed near the option Advanced view.

    [4] Locate and double-click the Yen symbol.

    [5] The Yen symbol will automatically appear on the Characters to Copy box.

    [6] Select the Copy button and open the document you intend to type the Yen symbol.

    [7] Tap the cursor on a place and click Ctrl+V to paste the Yen symbol.

    3. Using Insert Symbol Dialog Box

    [1] Open the document and place the insertion pointer where you wish to add the Yen symbol.

    [6] Close the dialog box after inserting the Yen symbol.

    4. Set a Shortcut for Yen Symbol on Microsoft Word

    Using the Auto-correct feature on MS Word, you can create a custom shortcut for the Yen symbol.

    [1] Launch the MS Word on your PC and go to the Insert tab.

    [3] Find and locate the Yen symbol and click on it.

    [5] Click on the AutoCorrect option at the bottom left corner

    [6] An Autocorrect dialog box opens up. Type YNS or any shortcut key for Yen Symbol under the option Replace.
