Update the LG Smart TV
There are four different ways to update your LG Smart TV. The method differs according to the TV model. Follow along to know how to update your TV model.
- Automatic Update
- Update 2016 models and later – WebOS
- Update 2012-2015 model TVs- Netcast
- LG Models 2011 Update
- Manual Update
- All LG Smart TV – USB Drive
Update LG Smart TV Models 2016 and Later – WebOS
These TVs run on the WebOS. If any TV model before 2016 runs on WebOS, the following methods will be applicable to those TVs too.
Step 1: Turn on your LG Smart TV. Then connect it to the internet.
Step 2: Press the home button on your LG TV remote.
Step 3: On the top-right corner, there be will be this Settings icon. Click on the icon to navigate to the Settings screen.
Step 4: Then, choose the All Settings option. And on the All Settings page, choose General.
Step 5: Now, choose the About This TV option.

Step 6: On the screen that appears, click on the Allow Automatic Updates. And then click on the Check For Updates.

Step 7: If there is any new update, the Update available prompt appears. It will automatically start to update if the Allow Automatic Updates button is selected. And the TV will restart.

Do not turn off the TV while updating.
Update 2012-2015 TV Models – NetCast
This method is applicable to all the TV models that run on the Netcast feature.
Step 1: Turn on your LG Smart TV. Then connect it to the internet.
Step 2: Press the home button on your LG TV remote.
Step 3: On the home screen, click on the Settings icon. You will be on the Settings page.
Step 4: Now, choose the Other option. Then choose the Software Update option.
Step 5: Turn on the Software Update. And then click on the Check Update Version button.
Step 6: Now, if there is any new update, it will automatically start to update. And the TV will restart.

Update 2011 LG TV Models
Step 1: Turn on your LG Smart TV. Then connect it to the internet.
Step 2: Press the home button on your LG TV remote.
Step 3: On the home screen, choose the Setup option. You will be on the Setup screen.
Step 4: Then, choose the Support option.
Step 5: Now, choose Software Update. Then, click on Check for Update button.
Step 6: Now, if there is any new update, it will automatically start to update. And the TV will restart.
Manual Update – LG Smart TV with USB [All Models]
The following procedure is applicable for all your LG Smart TV models. And you would require a minimum of 8 GB Pendrive.
Step 1: On your computer, open any web browser. Go to the LG Support Page.
Step 2: Then, enter the model number of your TV in the provided text field. You can look for the model number on the back of your TV or on the box.
Step 3: Choose your LG Smart TV type.
Step 4: On the next screen, scroll down. In the Software & Drivers section, click on the link to download the new software.
Step 5: Plug the USB drive into the PC and Copy the downloaded software to a USB.
Step 6: Now turn off your TV. Then insert the USB drive on your TV.
Step 7: Turn your TV on. The USB will be detected.
Step 8: Follow the on-screen instructions to update the TV to the latest firmware.
Once the update is complete, remove the USB drive. Then restart your TV.
