Sadly it is not available on the Amazon App store. Fortunately, Firestick mimics Android in many areas, and it lets you sideload Kodi as a third-party app. We shall discuss how to install and access Kodi on a Firestick in detail.
How to Install Kodi (V18.9 Leia) on Amazon Firestick?
There are several methods available in which you can install Kodi on Firestick. They are
- Downloader
- ES File Explorer
- Apps2fire
Pre-Requisite
[1] Turn on your Fire TV Stick 4K or any other model you own.
[2] Click on the Settings icon from the home screen.

[3] Navigate to the My Fire TV/Device settings tab.

[4] Choose the Developer options from the menu.

[5] Select ADB Debugging and turn it on.

[6] Also, Click on Apps from unknown sources and enable it.

How to Install Kodi on Fire TV Stick using Downloader?
[1] Click on the Search icon from the home screen.
[2] Search for Downloader using the Alexa voice control remote.

[3] Click on the Download icon to install Downloader.

[4] Launch Downloader app and enter the following URL: https://kodi.tv/download in the URL tab.

[5] Click on Go to start downloading Kodi Apk.
[6] Once the Apk gets downloaded, click Install to start the installation.
[7] Click Open to launch the app.
[8] That’s it. Kodi has been installed successfully on your Fire TV device.

Install Kodi on Firestick using ES File Explorer
There are three methods to download Kodi via ES File Explorer, and they are as follows.
Install ES File Explorer
[1] Click on the Search icon from the home screen.
[2] Search or say ES File explorer using Alexa voice control remote.

[3] Click Download to start downloading ES File Explorer from the Amazon App store.

[4] Launch ES File Explorer on your Fire TV device.

Method 1: Downloader
[5] Expand the Tools option from the left panel.
[6] Choose the Download manager and click on the Downloader icon.

[7] Click New from the bottom pane.

[8] Enter the following URL: https://kodi.tv/download in the path field.
[9] Add a name to the apk file (optional) and click Download now.
[10] Once the Kodi apk downloaded, select Open File.
[11] Then click Install to start the installation.
[12] Now select Open to launch Kodi on Fire TV Stick.
Method 2: Cloud Drive
[5] From your PC or smartphone, download the Kodi apk using the URL: https://kodi.tv/download
[6] Upload the Apk in any of the trusted cloud drives. i.e., Google Drive, One Drive, etc.
[7] Now Expand Network from the left panel in ES file Explorer.

[8] Choose Cloud Drive from the menu.

[9] Log in to your Cloud drive using the required credentials and navigate to the apk location.

[10] Click on the Apk to download and install Kodi.
[11] That’s it, now Kodi is successfully installed on your Fire TV.
Method 3: View On PC
[5] Download the Kodi apk from your browser using the URL: https://kodi.tv/download
[6] Launch ES File Explorer and expand Network from the left panel.
[7] Select View on PC from the menu.

[8] Select Turn on to view the input address.

[9] Copy the Ftp address and open File explorer or any folder on your PC.

[10] Paste the FTP address in the address bar.

Note: Make sure both Fire TV device and PC are connected to the same WiFi network.
[11] Now you can view all the folders on your Firestick.

[12] Move/Paste the apk in any folder inside the Fire Stick.
[13] Now, navigate to the apk folder in ES File Explorer.
[14] Click on the apk to start installing.
[15] With this, Kodi has been installed on your Fire TV device.
Install Kodi on Amazon Firestick using Apps2fire
[1] Download and install Kodi on Android phone from the Google Play Store.
[2] Also, install Apps2fire from the Play Store and launch the app.
[3] Click on the Kebab icon from the top right corner.
[4] Choose the Setup option from the menu.

[5] Click on Search Fire TV’s, and select your Fire TV from the list of available devices.

Note: Make sure both Fire TV device and Android device are connected to the same WiFi Network.
[6] In Allow USB Debugging pop up, click on OK.

[7] Again select your Fire TV from the Setup screen.
[8] Now move to the local apps section and navigate to Kodi.

[9] Tap on Install to upload and install Kodi on your Fire TV.

[10] Now you have Kodi on your Fire TV device.
How to Update Kodi on Firestick?
As of December 2020, Kodi V18.9 Leia is the latest version of Kodi. To update Kodi to the latest version on FireStick, all you need to do is use Downloader to download the latest version apk file from the official Kodi website and install it on your device.
How to Check your App version on Kodi
[1] Click on Settings from the home screen.
[2] Navigate to the Application tab from the menu.

[3] Choose Manage Installed Applications from the menu.

[4] Select down to Kodi from the list of available apps.
[5] Now you can see the version, size, storage, etc.

If the update failed or unable to install the Apk, then
[1] From the Home screen, click on Settings.
[2] Navigate to the Application tab from the settings menu.

[3] Choose Manage Installed Applications from the menu.

[4] Scroll down to Kodi from the list of available apps and click on it.

[5] First, click on Force Stop to make sure the app does not run in the background.

[6] Finally, click on Uninstall to remove it from your Apps.

Now install the updated or latest version Apk via Downloader.
